Winneshiek Redistricting

The Winneshiek County Temporary Redistricting Committee has made a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors for new voting precincts starting in 2022 for 10 years. The attached description and map show the recommendations. The Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on November 29th at 9:30am. After the public hearing if the Board adopts the new voting precincts, they will be forwarded to the Legislative Service Agency which will draw the new County Supervisor Districts. Proposed Boundaries of Voter Precincts within Winneshiek County, Iowa

The 10 election precincts in Winneshiek County Iowa are described as follows:

Precinct 1 shall consist of Highland, Canoe, Pleasant, and Glenwood (excluding the portion within the corporate limits of the City of Decorah) Townships.

Precinct 2 shall consist of Frankville, Bloomfield, and Military Townships including the cities of Ossian and Castalia.

Precinct 3 shall consist of Springfield Township, Decorah Ward 1, and the part of Decorah Township bounded by a line beginning at the southeast corner of Decorah Township, thence west to the centerline of Middle Calmar Road, thence northerly along the centerline of Middle Calmar Road to the Southern boundary of the Decorah corporate limit, thence East, North, Southeast, West, South, and East following the Decorah corporate limit boundary to its intersection with the East boundary of Decorah township, thence South to the place of beginning, and the part of Decorah Township bounded by a line beginning at the intersection of Old Stage Road with the East border of Decorah Township, thence South to the Decorah corporate limit, thence West, Northwest, Northeast, and North following the Decorah corporate limit to its intersection with the Upper Iowa River, thence Easterly following the Upper Iowa River to the intersection with Clay Hill Road, thence South following the centerline of Clay Hill Road to the intersection with River Road, thence South following the centerline of River Road to the intersection with Old Stage Road, thence East following the centerline of Old Stage Road to the place of beginning.

Precinct 4 shall consist of Decorah Ward 2.

Precinct 5 shall consist of Freemont, Burr Oak, Hesper, Orleans, and Bluffton Townships.

Precinct 6 shall consist of Madison Township, Decorah Ward 3, and the part of Decorah Township bounded by a line beginning at the Southwest corner of Decorah Township, thence north to the Northwest corner of Decorah Township, thence East to the centerline of Locust Road, thence Southwesterly along the centerline of Locust Road to the Northern boundary of the Decorah corporate limit, thence West, South, and East following the Decorah corporate limit boundary to its intersection with Middle Calmar Road, thence Southerly along the centerline of Middle Calmar Road to its intersection with the Southern boundary of Decorah Township, thence West to the place of beginning.

Precinct 7 shall consist of Lincoln and Sumner Townships including the city of Ridgeway.

Precinct 8 shall consist of Calmar, Washington, and Jackson Townships including the cities of Calmar, Spillville, Jackson Junction, and Fort Atkinson.

Precinct 9 shall consist of Decorah Ward 4.

Precinct 10 shall consist of Decorah Ward 5 and the part of Decorah Township bounded by a line beginning at the Northeast corner of Decorah Township, thence south to the centerline of Old Stage Road, thence West and Southwest along the centerline of Old Stage Road to the intersection of River Road, thence North along the centerline of River Road to the intersection with Clay Hill Road, thence North along the centerline of Clay Hill Road to the intersection with the Upper Iowa River, thence Southwesterly following the Upper Iowa River to the boundary of the Decorah corporate limit, thence Southwest, South, West, Northwest, North, and West along the Decorah corporate limit to the intersection with Locust Road, thence Northeasterly along the centerline of Locust Road to the North boundary of Decorah Township, thence East to the place of beginning.
