A Calmar teen was charged in connection with a two-vehicle accident in Winneshiek County. The accident happened on April 8th at 3:34pm on Highway 52 and 200th Street. 17-year old Gracyn Ella Humpal of Calmar was operating a 2014 Jeep Cherokee and failed to stop for a vehicle that slowed. That vehicle was a 2014 Dodge Durango operated by 30-year old Irene Kelly Yost of Fort Atkinson. No injuries reported, damage totaled 30-thousand dollars and Humpal was charged with Fail

The Mar-Mac Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run accident involving a red semi-truck hauling lumber. The incident occurred on April 7, 2026, at approximately 4:08 p.m. The semi-truck unlawfully traveled on a weight-restricted roadway within the City of Marquette and struck a stop sign. Friends of Pool 9 is spearheading this year’s Mississippi River Clean-Up  Day on Pool 9 on Saturday, April 18  from 8:00 am to noon.  Teams will gather at DeSoto WI, Blackhawk Park, WI, Ferryville, Lansing, and New Albin. Through Friends of Pool 9 efforts almost 100 tons  of debris have been collected through the years. This year’s collection may send that number over a 100 tons!
