No injuries in minor accident in Fayette County, a Hawkeye man arrested
On January 6, 2026 at approximately 5:33 AM a Fayette County Deputy came across a vehicle with damage and deer carcasses on Highway 150 south of the city of Fayette. Upon investigation it was determined 67-year-old Bonita Oliver of Ossian was northbound on Highway 150 in a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado when two deer entered the roadway. Oliver’s vehicle struck the deer causing disabling damage. No injuries were reported and the vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 damage. On

The trial of an Elkport woman charged in connection with a fatal accident in Clayton County is underway. 63-year old Susan J. Steve was originally charged with homocide by vehicle, operating under the influence, serious injury by vehicle, failure to stop in assured clear distance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. 11-Area Fire Departments receive grants to protect Iowan's and their property from wildfires
Nearly $350,000 in 50 percent cost-share grants were recently awarded to 105 Iowa rural fire departments to help their efforts to protect Iowan’s and their property from wildfires. The grants offer valuable funding assistance for wildfire suppression, personal protective and communications equipment.
