Central School Board sets date for vote to continue the current Physical Plant and Equipment Levy

The Central School Board set September 8th as the date for a vote to continue the current Physical Plant and Equipment Levy.

The Board approved continuing the Shared Maintenance Agreement with North Fayette/Valley and the Shared Transportation Agreement with Ed-Co.

Peter Thompson was hired as Head Football Coach and Trisha Schroeder as Yearbook Advisor.



Elkader, IA, May 18, 2026 -- The Central Community School Board approved the hiring of Peter Thompson as the new Head Football Coach for the 2026 season during its meeting on Monday, May 18, 2026. 

Thompson has been involved in Central athletics for the past two years as a Junior High football coach. In addition to football, he has also served as a Junior High basketball coach and an Assistant Track & Field coach, building strong relationships with student-athletes across multiple programs. 

Central Activities Director Aaron Reinhart shared excitement about Thompson stepping into the leadership role for the football program. 

“Coach Thompson is passionate about Central athletics, supporting Central students, and developing each student-athlete as a person; building habits and good character. We are excited to have him in this role to continue growing the football program!” 

Thompson’s experience working with Central students and his commitment to developing young athletes have made a positive impact throughout the district. Students, coaches, and families are confident in his ability to lead the football program and continue building a strong culture both on and off the field. 

Coach Thompson shared, “I am excited to continue the process of growing the Central Elkader Football program, and assisting the young people in the community to accept challenges, and develop the skills to deal with the challenges that life presents.”
