Thomas Laehn to Visit Fayette County
Des Moines, Iowa — Dr. Thomas Laehn, Libertarian candidate for the United States Senate and current Greene County Attorney, will be speaking at the Green Door at 301 Mill Street in Clermont, Iowa, on Saturday, November 22, at 1:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Laehn is currently the highest elected Libertarian in the State of Iowa.
Laehn believes that the Republicans and Democrats in Congress are more loyal to their party leaders and to their major donors than to the people they were elected to serve. Laehn points to a recent Gallup poll showing that 62% of adults in the United States believe the two major parties are failing the American people and a third party is needed.[1] “I am not running against the Republican candidate,” Laehn says. “Nor am I running against the Democratic candidate. I am running against the two-party system itself. It is time to take political power away from the two major parties and to restore it to the people.”
If elected, Laehn has pledged to introduce legislation to stop eminent domain abuse in Iowa and across the country, to enact meaningful campaign finance reform, and to check the abuse of executive power.
