Dorothy Alice (Hartman) Hoffmann, 99, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. She was born on September 6, 1926, in Manchester, the daughter of Larence W. and Fern Imogene (Mason) Davis. Dorothy was raised and educated in the area, attending Hazel Green Township Rural School, and was a 1943 graduate of Manchester High School.
On July 3, 1943, Dorothy was united in marriage to Herbert L. Hartman at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manchester. Three children were born to this union. The couple farmed together south of Manchester until Herbert’s death in 1974. On November 13, 1982, Dorothy was united in marriage to Joseph Hoffmann at First Lutheran Church in Manchester. Joe passed away on May 1, 2016.
Dorothy was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church for her entire married life. She was a member of several card clubs. Dorothy enjoyed golfing, gardening, traveling, and dancing. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
Survivors include her son, Richard (Joann) Hartman of Manchester; five stepchildren, Sam (Mary Lou) Hoffmann, Ann Hoffmann, Dr. Michael Hoffmann, Jim (Nikki) Hoffmann, and Mary (Hardy) Laskin; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Herbert Hartman and Joseph Hoffmann; her two daughters, Judy (Frank) Wilkins and Cheryl Voelker; granddaughter, Ann Marie Wilkins; five sisters, Matilda Davis in infancy, Frances (James Shover and John Wilson) Shover, Isola (John “Red”) White, Mabel (Allen) Kauffman, and Mildred (John T.) Wilson; and two brothers, Ingle (Alice) Davis and Larence “Kent” (Jane) Davis.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manchester, Iowa, with Rev. Jason Cooper officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester. Friends may also call from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before the service at the church on Wednesday.
Interment: Peace Lutheran Cemetery - Ryan, Iowa
