Fayette County Accidents

On 8/4/25  at approximately 6:03 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a car vs deer accident on P Avenue near 60th Street, approximately three miles north of Oelwein. After further investigation, it was determined that Rebekah Lynn Maness, age 31 of Oelwein, was north bound in a 2016 Chevrolet Impala LTZ when she struck a deer in the traveled portion of the roadway. The Chevrolet sustained approx. $5000 in damages. Maness and the other occupants reported no injuries. This accident remains under investigation.

On 8/5/25  at approx. 6:55am, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call of a single vehicle rollover on Washington Street near Wadena Road just south of Fayette. After further investigation, it was determined that Tory Joseph Knebel, age 35 of Readlyn, was driving north bound in a Black 2012 Audi AA4 car when he lost control, entered the east side ditch and rolled. The Audi is considered a total loss. Knebel sustained minimal injuries and was treated on scene by the Fayette Ambulance. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Fayette Ambulance, Fayette Fire Department, and West Union Police Department. Knebel was cited for Failure to Maintain Control. (photo)
