On 1/31/2024 at approximately 7:48 AM, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a motor vehicle accident on HWY 3 and W Ave involving an SUV and a Semi truck. During the investigation, it was revealed that Anna Marie Bickers, 29 of Maynard was driving a 2021 Ford Explorer when she entered the roadway from a stop sign, not seeing the 2018 Freight Truck driven by Kevin James Rolfes, 32 of Earlville due to the dense fog, and was struck on the passenger side. Both vehicles were towed and no injuries were reported. This accident remains under investigation. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Oran Fire and Oran first responders, Mercy Oelwein Ambulance, and the Iowa State Patrol.
On January 31st, 2024, at 8:22AM the Fayette County Sheriff's Office took a report of a car vs. semi accident on 150th Street at the intersection of R Ave. When a deputy arrived, it was learned that a 2007 Peterbilt semi-tractor trailer operated by 60-year-old Clifford Dean Allred of Polk, Missouri was driving northbound on R Ave. Allred failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of 150th Street and R Ave. and he crossed the path of a 2011 Hyundai Sonata operated by 18-year-old Davis Joel Vansickle of Randalia. Vansickle was unable to stop in time and collided with the rear of the semi as it passed in front of him. Vansickle’s vehicle was totaled, and he was transported to Sumner Hospital by Sumner EMS to be treated for possible severe injuries. Allred was not injured. There was approximately $20,000 of damage on the semi-trailer. Allred was cited for Fail to Obey Traffic Control Device. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Sumner EMS, Hawkeye Fire and First Responders. (photos go with this release)
