On July 29th, 2025, at approximately 4:33 pm a Fayette County Deputy charged Lane William Winders age 25 of Waterloo with Assault on persons in certain occupations – No bodily injury, and Interference with Official Acts after he assaulted a Fayette County Deputy while being housed in the Fayette County Jail. Winders was given an initial appearance and a bond set at $2,000 cash only bond. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the West Union Police Department and Gundersen Ambulance.
On July 30th, 2025, at approximately 10:11 am Bryce Jarod Kugel age 34 of Strawberry Point was arrested and transported to the Fayette County Jail on a valid Fayette County warrant for Violation of a No-Contact Order – Contempt. Kugel was held until his initial appearance and later released on a $30 bond. The Fayette County sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Strawberry Point Police Department.
On July 30th, 2025, at approximately 2:34 pm the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a two-vehicle accident on G Avenue near the intersection of 20th St. Aurora. Upon Deputies arrival it was learned that Adam Timothy Duffy age 39 of Aurora was traveling north bound on G Avenue in a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 when he intentionally hit his brakes causing the vehicle traveling behind him to collide with his vehicle. The 1994 Chevrolet Silverado was driven by Candice Carroll age 41 of Aurora. The Silverado driven by Carroll sustained disabling damage. No injuries were reported from this accident. Duffy was arrested and transported to the Fayette County Jail. Duffy is being charged with Domestic Abuse Assault with intent to inflict serious injury, and Assault with intent to inflict serious injury. Duffy is being held on a $2,000 Cash only bond. This incident remains under investigation. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol and Gary’s towing.
On July 30, 2025, at approximately 1:32pm, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call of a male threatening to stab a female in the 400 block of Mechanic Street in Fayette. After further investigation, Christopher Scott McLaury, age 30 of Fayette, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense – Meth (Serious Misdemeanor), Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense – Marijuana (Serious Misdemeanor), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misdemeanor), and Harassment 2nd Degree (Serious Misdemeanor). McLaury was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he awaits an initial appearance from a Magistrate Judge.
