Fayette County Releases

On August 7th, 2025, at approximately 7:28 pm a Fayette County Deputy arrested Leslie Thornton of Oelwein, on a valid Fayette County Warrant for failure to appear. Thornton was transported to the Fayette County Jail where she is being held on a $300 cash only bond and awaits an initial appearance from a Magistrate Judge.

On August 8th, 2025, at approximately 6:30pm a Fayette County Deputy arrested Christopher Jones,40 of Oelwein, on a valid Fayette County Warrant for failure to appear. Christopher was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he is being held on a $100 cash/surety bond.

On August 8, 2025, at approximately 12:45pm, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call of a vehicle in the ditch on South Street near Main Street in Arlington, IA. After further investigation, it was determined that Clinton Jeffrey Howard, age 45 of Webster City, was attempting a U-turn in a Silver Chevrolet Silverado K150 truck when he lost control, entered the north side ditch, and struck a culvert. The Chevrolet sustained minimal damages. No injuries were reported. A further investigation determined that Jeffrey Howard was intoxicated. Howard was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense (Serious Misdemeanor), Failure to Maintain Control (Simple Misdemeanor) and 3 counts of Child Endangerment (Aggravated Misdemeanor). Howard was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he awaits an initial appearance from a Magistrate Judge.(photo)
