Pursuit Leads to Recommendation of Felony Charges

On August 26, 2026, at 2:10pm, Grant County deputies observed Stephen Henriksen, 43, of Platteville, driving south on Hwy 80 in Platteville Township. Probable cause existed for his arrest on a harassment protection order violation, 3 counts of felony bail jumping, and misdemeanor bail jumping. Deputies initiated a traffic stop on Henriksen that resulted in a pursuit with speeds reaching 90 MPH. The pursuit was terminated just prior to entering Platteville city limits. The Platteville Police Department attempted to stop Henriksen on Union Street. Henriksen did not stop and pulled into his driveway and was witnessed by law enforcement fleeing on foot and entering his residence.

Due to the felony offenses, law enforcement entered the residence to arrest Henriksen. A neighbor notified law enforcement that Henriksen had went out the back door of the home and fled to the North. Henriksen entered a large wooded area near a corn field. A drone was deployed along with multiple officers, but Henriksen was not located.

Additional information will be referred to the Grant County District Attorney's Office, with the recommendation that Hanriksen also be charged with felony eluding, obstructing, and multiple felony and misdemeanor bail jumping offenses.
