McGregor, Iowa – The City of McGregor is pleased to announce that the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) has agreed to postpone the planned roadwork along Hwy 76 between Marquette and McGregor, originally scheduled for after Labor Day through mid-October. This change comes following concerns expressed by local residents, business owners, and community leaders regarding the timing of the project during peak fall leaf tourism season.

City officials extend their sincere thanks to DOT Director Scott Marler, District Engineer Roy Gelhaus, other Iowa DOT officials, and state representatives for listening to public feedback and responding thoughtfully to the community’s concerns. The DOT has committed to including the City of McGregor and affected stakeholders in advance planning when the project is rescheduled next year.

This is a great example of how community voices can make a real difference. We appreciate the collaboration and responsiveness of our state officials. Thank you to everyone who reached out to share your concerns—it truly helped make the difference.

The City encourages residents and visitors to continue to stay engaged in local projects and to monitor official communications for updates on future work along Hwy 76.
