Jeanette Kay Hamlett of Edgewood

Jeanette Kaye Hamlett, 83, of Edgewood, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026, at her home. She was born on August 3, 1943, at home on the farm near Bear Creek, the daughter of Emmett and Irma (Carnicle) Shaw.
Jeanette was raised in Edgewood and worked for her Grandma Shaw at the Corner Café during high school. She was a graduate of Edgewood High School. After graduation, Jeanette worked as a CNA at Mercy Hospital for several years.
On June 10, 1962, Jeanette was united in marriage to Bryce Hamlett at the United Methodist Church in Manchester. Three children were born to this union. The family lived in Manchester for a short time and then settled in Edgewood. Jeanette worked at the Edgewood Convalescent Home for over 23 years.
Jeanette was a devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hope Circle, and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Jeanette enjoyed flower gardening and reading. She was an excellent baker and cook. She loved her family and especially cherished spending time with them. Jeanette enjoyed her time with friends and family at their cabin in Harpers Ferry.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Bryce Hamlett of Edgewood; her three children, Deb (Mike) Ratchford of Cedar Rapids, Michael Hamlett of Cedar Rapids, and Dana Lynn (Dave Baumler) Bramer of Marion; five grandchildren, Stacey (Brandon) Loutsch and their children, Mackson and Bodhi, Nathan (Marcela) Billmeyer and their children, Anthony, Vanessa, and Charlie, Tim (Anna) Ratchford, Dustin (Candy) Bramer and their children, William, Aeris, Emery, and one on the way, and Kyle Bramer; brother, Lary (Cathy) Shaw of Edgewood; two sisters, Betty Patro of Edgewood and JoAnn (Dennis) Klein of Hiawatha; and several nieces and nephews.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Duane Shaw; and brother-in-law, Louis Patro.
