Kathleen Ellen “Kay” Tegeler, 94, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. She was born on September 20, 1931, in Masonville, the daughter of Richard and Christine (Nemmers) McMahon. Kay attended school in Manchester and was a 1948 graduate of Manchester High School.
On September 30, 1950, Kay was united in marriage to John Henry Tegeler at Immaculate Catholic Church in Masonville. John was then drafted into the United States Air Force and the couple lived in Louisiana during his service. The couple then returned to Iowa after his service and began farming north of Manchester. Kay worked as a high school secretary and then dedicated herself to raising their six children. The couple moved to Manchester in 1980.
Kay was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Kay was a talented seamstress and made over 100 quilts for her family and friends. She also enjoyed painting china and collected many antiques that decorated her home. Kay enjoyed golfing and playing cards. She was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and West Delaware Hawks. Kay loved her family and cherished spending time with them.
Survivors include five children, Tim (Dawn) Tegeler of Manchester, Nick (Karie) Tegeler of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Kathy (Mike) Greve of Manchester, George (Pam) Tegeler of Elkader, and Mary Margaret (Donn) Stoner of Hickman, Nebraska; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in 2021; son, Jeff Tegeler of 2010; granddaughter, Muriah Tegeler; daughter-in-law, Barb Tegeler; and her siblings, Joe (Ruth) McMahon, Richard (Virgina) McMahon, Eileen (Francis) Keenan, and Rose (Bernard) Miller.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, Iowa, with Rev. Gabriel Anderson officiating.
Visitation: 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester, Iowa. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
Interment: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester, Iowa
