Mark Eugene White, 73, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on May 25, 1952, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Edwin and Velma (Martin) White. He was raised and educated in the Colesburg area and was a 1971 Ed-Co graduate.
On February 10, 1973, Mark was united in marriage to Darla Knospe. A daughter, Jennifer, was born to this union. The couple later divorced. On April 30, 1976, Mark was united in marriage to Denise (Potter) Massingham. A daughter, Christina, was born to this union.
Throughout the years, Mark worked at different jobs, but then found his favorite job driving semi-trucks.
He drove for a few local companies and loved his time on the open road. Mark was able to travel all over this country and could tell you the best places to stop in almost every state. He enjoyed driving until his retirement in 2019.
Growing up, Mark went fishing with his mom and enjoyed hunting. He liked playing jokes on his family and friends and making people laugh. That never changed, even when he was sick. He loved camping, working on cars, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family and friends.
Mark loved being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was a faithful active member of the Manchester congregation for most of his life, and then went to Dyersville when the two congregations merged. He believed in a resurrection and an earthly paradise yet to come. That gave him a positive view of the future, no matter what he was going through in his life. Mark shared that hope with others whenever he could.
Mark was kind, humble, generous, and cared about people. He had a loving heart and was a sweetheart when you got to know him. He was a loving husband, a good friend and brother, and a good father and grandfather. Mark will be missed so much by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Denise White of Manchester; two daughters, Jennifer White of Manchester and Christina (Rod) Peterman of Dubuque; three grandchildren, Jasmine White, Meara (Colin) Reeg, and Briley Scott; three great-grandchildren, Kyleia White, Lainey Sue Reeg, and Grady Reeg; two sisters, Pam (Gary) Willie and Gail Goranson; and several nieces and nephews, who he loved like his own children.
