McGregor Scottish Fest Returns April 11 with Music, Games, and Highland Spirit

McGregor, Iowa — Dust off your tartan and ready your best “Slàinte!”—Downtown McGregor is set to come alive with the sights, sounds, and spirited charm of Scotland (with a distinctly McGregor twist) on Saturday, April 11 for the annual McGregor Scottish Fest.

Throughout the day, downtown businesses will offer Scottish-themed food, drinks, décor, and promotions for visitors to enjoy.  The festival begins at 2:00 p.m. in Triangle Park with an Opening Ceremony featuring the Piper’s Call to the Games and the Raising of the Tartan.  Following the ceremony, the McGregor Relays will offer a mix of fun, Highland-inspired competitions for all to enjoy.

From 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., the celebration spills into the streets with the McGregor Games—a pub crawl meets Highland Games challenge, where participants travel between downtown establishments testing their skills in quick, lighthearted contests. Along the way, a wandering bagpiper will fill the air with the unmistakable sounds of Scotland from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.

As evening falls, the festival goers will gather at Jade’s River Queen from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. for live music, Scottish fare, and a proper social hour. Enjoy Celtic tunes from Hup, Caledonia!, sample Scottish-inspired bites, and sip on whisky flights as the celebration carries on.

At 8:00 p.m., don’t miss the announcement of McGregor Games champions—followed by the ever-entertaining Kilt Contest, where style, swagger, and a touch of Scottish flair take the spotlight.

McGregor Scottish Fest continues to grow as a spring tradition, offering a mix of music, games, and Scottish-inspired experiences throughout the day.  So gather your clan, bring your sense of adventure, and join us in McGregor for a day that’s sure to be as memorable as it is festive.
