Minor injuries reported in accident involving two vehicles and a horse in Fayette County
On November 4th, 2026, at approximately 5:54 PM, The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an accident in the 11000 block of Filmore Rd, West Union, IA. Upon Deputy arrival, it was determined that a horse got loose from a residence in the 11000 block of Filmore Rd. and was struck by a white 2017 Ford F150, driven by Barry Koehn 28 of West Union, IA. The horse was then thrown into a red 2018 Ram 2500, driven by Troy Marquette, 56 of Waterloo, IA. Both vehicles were disabled at the scene and considered a total loss. Estimated damage to each vehicle exceeded $10,000. Minor injuries were reported and the horse was deceased at the scene. Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by West Union Police Department, West Union Fire Department, Emplify Health EMS, and Torkelson Auto.
