Nancy Mae Chopard Ericson of Edgewood

Nancy Mae Chopard Ericson, age 84, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026. She
was born on October 26, 1941, in Manchester, the daughter of Ralph and Edna (Baker) Chopard. Nancy was raised and educated in Edgewood and was a 1960 graduate of Edgewood High School.
On June 28, 1964, Nancy was united in marriage to Victor Ericson at Trinity United Methodist Church in Edgewood. Two children were born to this union. Nancy worked as an accountant and office manager for B/P Associates in Cedar Rapids. She also worked in the Edgewood High School office and at Wallace’s in Manchester.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling, celebrating family, and backyard bbqs with roasting hot dogs over a fire. She was known for her porcupine meatballs and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. She had a spunky personality and loved to be silly and laugh.
Nancy lived a remarkable life filled with love, strength, kindness, and devotion to her family. She touched countless lives through her generosity and wisdom. She was warm and welcoming to everyone and her friends were treated like family. Nancy was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, creating cherished memories, and sharing stories, laughter, and love with those she held dear. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her two children, Victor John Ericson of Clearwater, Florida, and Tonya (Steven) Gould of St. George, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Elissa (McKennon) Laas and Brennan Ericson; a great-grandson, Matlock Laas; sister-in-law, Pat Chopard; and nieces and nephews who were cherished as grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Chopard, Chad (Jenn) Chopard, Heather (Josh) Bottelman, Megan (Todd) Boge, and Sean Chopard.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Victor in 2025; her parents; her parents-in-law, Victor and Edith Ericson; brother, Paul Chopard; and nephew, Nathan Chopard.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to those who provided care, comfort, and friendship during her final years.
Though she will be deeply missed, her love, wisdom, and example will remain with her family forever.
