No Injuries reported in minor accident in Fayette County

On October 7, 2026 at approximately 4:53 AM a Fayette County Sheriff's Deputy responded to a single vehicle accident in the 3,000 block of 40^th Street.  An investigation revealed 32 year old Ryan Helmrichs of Strawberry Point, Iowa was traveling west on 40^th Street in a 2005 Saturn Ion when a raccoon entered the roadway.  Helmrichs's vehicle collided with the raccoon damaging the radiator and disabling the vehicle.  Helmrichs was not injured in the accident and his vehicle sustained approximately $2500 damage.
