Oelwein man arrested on warrant and other charges

On 10-13-26, at approximately 7:50 PM, a Fayette County Sheriff's Deputy arrested Lee Michael Benter 40 of Oelwein on a Blackhawk County Warrant for Failure to Appear.   During the warrant check an odor of marijuana was detected coming from the residence and Benter was found to be in possession of the illegal substance.  Benter was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Marijuana 1^st Offense, a serious misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.  Benter was transported to Fayette County Jail where he awaited initial appearance and awaits extradition from the Blackhawk County Sheriff's Office.
