Oelwein Police release information on two arrest incidents

At around 1:50pm on October 24, 2026, Oelwein Police responded to reports of two male subjects arguing in the 1300 block of Industrial Park Rd, with one subject striking and shattering the drivers' side window of the other subject's vehicle.  Officers identified and arrested both suspects, Michael Wesley Toms, 36, of Hazleton, and James Michael Toms, 30, of Independence.  Both individuals were charged with Disorderly Conduct (Fighting/Violent Behavior) - Simple Misdemeanor.

On October 23, 2026, at 11:25pm, Oelwein Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of R Ave and 10th St in Fayette County. As a result of this traffic stop, Brent Joseph Thompson, 42, of Fairbank was arrested for Driving While Barred – Aggravated Misdemeanor.
