Postville woman escapes injury in semi accident in Fayette County

 On 10/19/2026 at approximately 10:30 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a call of a single-vehicle accident on HWY 18 and 240^th St. During the investigation, it was determined that the driver, Ellen Althouse (62 y/o from Postville, IA) lost control of the semi when she turned from HWY 18 onto 240^th St causing the semi hauling grain to flip on its side. No injuries were reported. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by West Union Police Department, West Union Fire Department, Emplify Ambulance and the Fayette County Road Department.
