Search warrant leads to drug bust in Elgin, Fayette County Authorities release information on a number of incidents

On November 15, 2025, at approximately 7:20pm, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at an apartment on Washington Street in Elgin, IA. After a search of the residence, multiple illegal substances were located. Michael Henry Palmer, age 59 of Elgin, was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance – 2nd Offense (Aggravated Misdemeanor), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misdemeanor), and Gathering where Controlled Substances are Used (D Felony). Matthew Lee Palmer, age 33 of Garnavillo, was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance – 3rd/Subsequent Offense (D Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misdemeanor), and Gathering where Controlled Substances are Used (D Felony). Trevor John Palmer, age 30 of Cedar Rapids, was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance – 1st Offense (Serious Misdemeanor), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misdemeanor), and Gathering where Controlled Substances are Used (D Felony). All arrestees were transported to the Fayette County Jail and await an initial appearance from a Magistrate Judge. (photos)

On November 15, 2025, at approximately 11:36am, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office responded to a single vehicle accident on T Avenue near 90th Street, approximately one mile south of Westgate. After further investigation, it was determined that Shawn Allen Phillips, age 39 of Hudson, was north bound in a Red 2024 Can Am Defender XT when the wind blew open the soft-framed passenger door. The passenger was identified as Cara Christine Conroy, age 41 of Hudson. Cara was not wearing a seat belt, grabbed the door, and was ejected from the Can Am. Cara received life threatening injuries and was transported to Mercy One Hospital in Oelwein where she was later airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Westgate Ambulance, Westgate Fire Department, Gunderson Air, and the Iowa State Patrol. This accident remains under investigation. (photo)



On November 13, 2025, at approximately 6:30 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a vehicle vs deer accident on Harding Road near F Avenue, approximately two miles west of Clermont. After further investigation, it was determined that Amy Jo Green, age 46 of Postville, was east bound in a Blue 2013 Chevrolet Equinox LT when she struck a deer in the traveled portion of the roadway. The Chevrolet sustained approximately $3000 in damages. No injuries were reported.

 

On 11-15-25, Fayette Police Department initiated a traffic stop for an infraction near the intersection of Hemlock Rd. and Wadena Rd.  Fayette County Sheriff's Office was requested to respond to the incident.   After an investigation, Fayette County Deputies arrested Kyle Dean Pedretti, 37 of Wadena, and he was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, an Aggravated Misdemeanor, Operating While Intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.  Pedretti was taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail, where he awaited initial appearance. 


 

On 11-16-25, at approximately 2:30 AM, a Fayette County Sheriff's Deputy initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Apple Rd and Alberta Rd. Clermont IA.  After an investigation Michael Brandon Knickerbocker was arrested and charged with Operating while Intoxicated and Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense, both serious misdemeanors.  Patrick David Mason, 19 of McGreggor, was also arrested for Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense, a serious misdemeanor.  Mason and Knickerbocker were taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail. 

 

On November 15th, 2025, at approximately 12:42 a.m. Fayette County Deputies were called to the area of Nature Road and M Avenue in reference to an abandoned emergency call. Upon arrival at the location deputies located a red Jeep Grand Cherokee with its emergency flashers on and a body lying near the vehicle in a farm field. Upon investigating deputies learned that the body located was the driver, Jesus Daniel Tinajero-Lule age 22 of Waucoma and he was traveling westbound in his 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he lost control, causing him to travel into the north ditch and ultimately stop in the farm field. Mr. Tinajero-Lule was found to have minor injuries and his vehicle sustained major damage. Mr. Tinajero-Lule showed signs of impairment and after the completion of the investigation into the accident he was arrested and charged with first offense operating while intoxicated and failure to maintain control. He was transported and held at the Fayette County Jail to await appearance in front of a magistrate.
