Union Sunday School concert series celebrates 46 years of music!

Lydia Maier to perform concert on September 27th

CLERMONT – The 1896 Kimball Pipe Organ at the Union Sunday School will again grace an audience with its beautiful notes for the 46th annual Union Sunday School Concert Series. Montauk Historic Site, in partnership with the Clermont Historical Society, is excited to announce that Haleena Thompson, a University of Iowa student in Organ Performance, will be performing the first concert of the series.

Lydia Maier, a native of Madison, Wisconsin, is currently in her junior year of Organ Performance studies at the University of Iowa under Dr. Gregory Hand. She started her studies in 2021 with Andrew Kreigh, continuing with Bruce Bengtson, and has since been shaped by her travels to study and play historic organs across Germany. At the University of Iowa, Lydia serves as the Social Media Coordinator for the Organ Studio and is currently developing a collegiate honors recital. She is an active member of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) and the National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM).

Following the concert, the Clermont Historical Society will provide refreshments at the Clermont Opera House – one block from the Union Sunday School.

If you’ve never been to one of our concerts, come check it out! The annual Union Sunday School Concert Series features performances by trained musicians on the largest Kimball Pipe Organ in the United States. Built in 1896, the organ was a gift presented by former Iowa Gov. William Larrabee to his daughter, Anna, who was the church’s organist for more than 60 years.
