Wayne Gregory Tauke of Edgewood

Wayne Gregory Tauke, 91, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 28, 1934, in Farley, Iowa, the son of Albert and Marcella (Boeckenstedt) Tauke. He graduated from Greeley Public School. After graduation, he served in the Army, was stationed in Japan, and was honorably discharged.


On February 15, 1958, he was united in marriage to Mary Louise McDermott at St. John’s Catholic Church, Placid. Three children were born to this union. They farmed together for 50 years near Greeley and Wayne was a rural route mail carrier for 36 years.


Wayne was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Greeley serving on the parish council. He was also the Trustee President of Holy Name in Greeley. After retirement, the couple moved to Edgewood and became members of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Edgewood. Wayne was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family.


Survivors include his wife of nearly 68 years, Louise; children Barb (Dave) Althoff of Edgewood, Curt (Michelle) Tauke of Monticello, and Tom (Cindy) Tauke of Dubuque; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister Elaine Beall of Leawood, Kansas.


Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Marcella Tauke; brother Donald (Joan) Tauke; sister Gladys (Gerald) Schnieders; and brother-in-law Earl Beall.

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, February 10th at 11:00 a.m., St. Mark Catholic Church in Edgewood, Iowa


Visitation: 4:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, February 9, 2026 at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood. Friends may also call from 9:30-10:30 on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at the funeral home.
