Winneshiek County Accident

No injuries reported in a two-vehicle accident in Calmar. Winneshiek County Authorities report that 18-year old Brooke Elizabeth Oppliger of Omaha, Nebraska was operating a 2009 Ford Fusion northbound on Highway 52/Maryville Street in Calmar. A 2015 Jeep operated by 26-year old Zachary Michael Shirley of Tripoli was entering the roadway from an alley. A semi truck was parked in the parking lot and Shirley entered the roadway before it was clear to do so. The Shirley vehicle struck the Oppliger vehicle on the front passenger head light. Minor damages totaled 45-hundred dollars and no injuries reported. Shirley was charged with failure to yield upon making a left turn.
