Review and Discussion of Application for Board Vacancy
The Central Community School Board reviewed and discussed the following questions with Mr. Austin Bergan.
-Tell us a bit about yourself and what interests you in being a Director at Central Community School District?
-You described the primary role of a school board member in your application. How do you see the board's responsibility (policy, budget, oversight) differing from the superintendent's responsibility (day-to-day operations and personnel)?
-Board members sometimes hear concerns from community members, parents, or staff about individual situations. How would you approach a concern when you may not have all the information or authority to resolve it individually?
-As a board, we deliberate openly, but once a vote is taken, we speak as one collective body. Can you describe a time when you were part of a team decision that didn't go your way, and how you supported the final outcome publicly?
- What do you believe should be the board's highest priorities over the next three years, and how would you determine whether we are making progress?
-Central faces decisions involving student achievement, staffing, enrollment, facilities, and financial resources. How would you approach prioritization of fiscal resources? -How would you gather input from community members whose perspectives differ from your own?
-What do you hope to contribute during the remainder of this term, and what would success look like for you as a board member?
