Child Fatally Injured in Driveway After Being Struck by a Vehicle

On October 3, 2026, at approximately 3:34 p.m., the Grant County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a child was struck by a vehicle at a residence on Old C Road, in Watterstown Township. Law enforcement and Boscobel EMS were dispatched to the scene.

The initial investigation indicates that Melinda Brown, 38, of Boscobel, was returning home when her three-year-old son, G. Brown, ran across the driveway to meet her. Brown instructed her son to move from the driveway so she could park, and he ran toward the house.

Another child was also present and was moving toys from the driveway. Browns son unknowingly turned and came back toward the vehicle without her seeing him. Brown's son was subsequently struck by the front tire of the SUV.

Family members transported the three-year-old to Emplify Hospital in Boscobel, where he passed away from his injuries. The initial investigation indicates this was a tragic accident, but the incident remains under investigation.
