The Iowa Department of Education has sent Clayton Ridge School District Officials a letter with concerns of record-keeping discrepancies and other issues concerning their online school, the Iowa Virtual Academy. The Academy was recently granted a conditional accreditation but must show evidence of compliance to be considered for potential approval in the 26-27 school year. Those issues include record-keeping, Administrators billing of other school districts for special education services, unclear documentation involving statewide standardized tests, and IEP meetings for students experiencing chronic absenteeism. One of the major issues involved the reporting of student enrollment. A review indicated that over three-thousand students were enrolled at one-point during the school year and over 17-hundred had exited. According to the Iowa Department of Education, the District submitted a report that only 63-students exited the school.
