The National Weather Service has issued a warning for extreme cold, with wind chills expected to range between -20 and -50 degrees starting today and lasting through the weekend.
These dangerously cold temperatures can cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. We urge all residents to take immediate action to protect themselves, their families, and their pets.
Warming centers are currently available in Prairie du Chien and Gays Mills.

Stay indoors if possible.
Dress in layers and use hat, face mask, and gloves to cover all exposed skin.
When traveling pack a winter car kit to include things like warm shoes, blanket, first aid kit, food, water, etc.
Bring pets indoors.
Protect pipes by opening cabinet doors and letting faucets drip.
Check on friends, family and neighbors.
