Daniel Lee Burbridge of Delaware

Daniel Lee Burbridge, 76, of Delaware, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood. He was born on May 14, 1949, in Manchester, the son of John and Clara (Steffen) Burbridge. Dan was raised and educated in the area and graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School.


Dan was a life long engine builder. He worked with NASCAR race car team owners, Bill Davis and Richard Petty. After his career working with NASCAR, he came back to Delhi to run his own business building engines. In the last few years Dan had moved to Delaware.


His true love was racing and spending time with his family and friends.


Survivors include his two children, Shane Burbridge of Manchester and Shannon (Mark) Styer of North Carolina; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his sister, Mary (Tim) Breitbach of Colesburg; sister-in-law, Susan Burbridge of Delhi; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.


Dan was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara Burbridge; and brothers, Florian John Burbridge; James Burbridge, and Wayne (Debi) Burbridge.


Leonard-Muller Funeral Home of Manchester is assisting the family at this time.
