Dubuque County Authorities report that a Dubuque man was involved in a Slow-Speed Chase that ended in death

On 04-18-2026 at approximately 1355 hrs., The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle for traffic violations, as well as the driver, identified as Scott M. Auderer (45 yoa) of Dubuque, being known to have an outstanding warrant for their arrest. A slow speed pursuit ensued through the norther parts of Dubuque County, IA, as the driver refused to pull over. Stop sticks were utilized successfully, as the vehicle slowly came to a stop in the area of Tollgate RD and Ridge RD in Dubuque County, IA. When approaching the vehicle, Deputies located the driver with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Deputies, as well as members from Holy Cross EMS attempted life saving measures, however the driver was pronounced deceased on scene. The investigation is on-going.
