One-Vehicle Fatality Crash

On January 13, 2026, at 2:54 PM, the Grant County Sheriff's Office received a call regarding a one-vehicle crash with injuries on Hwy 151, south of Hwy 11, in Jamestown Township.

When deputies arrived on scene, they learned Gary Brillhart, 76, of East Dubuque, IL, was driving his 2025 Toyota Rav4 south on Hwy 151, just south of the Hwy 11 overpass. Brillhart's passenger, Barbara Robey, 80, of East Dubuque, IL, was in the front passenger seat. Their vehicle left the roadway to the right (west) side causing the vehicle to travel through the ditch, strike a highway sign, travel up a steep embankment into a wooded area approximately 40 yards off of the highway. Once at the top of the embankment, the car rolled down into a ravine, where it came to rest.

Both Brillhart and Robey were injured in the crash and were transported by EMS to an area hospital for treatment. Robey's injuries were severe and she was eventually transferred to another medical facility where she later died from the injuries sustained in the crash.

A motorist who was in the northbound lanes witnessed the crash.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Dickeyville EMS, Jamestown Fire and First Responders, Dubuque Fire Department with an engine and paramedic ambulance, and Guys Towing Service out of Kieler.

The crash remains under investigation by the Grant County Sheriff's Office.
