Elkader City Council Proceedings
The Elkader City Council met in special session on Thursday, September 17, 2026 in special session at 5:00 p.m. at the Elkader City Hall with Mayor Josh R. Pope presiding. Roll call: Present: Bob Garms, Randy Henning, and Curtis Ruhser. (Tony Hauber and Roger Buchholz unable to attend).
Old business
Consider and approve different route for Homecoming Parade for Central Community school on October 1, 2026 (route will be from the school, down N. Main Street, turn onto East Bridge Street, turn onto High Street SE and end at the Jack Dittmer Athletic Field)
Representatives from the Student Council were in attendance to ask the Council to change the parade route for the Homecoming Parade and return it to the route used before the reconstruction of the Keystone Bridge in 2022. The representatives indicated that using this route increases the community participation and they would like to see Homecoming be a community wide celebration. Garms moved to approve the request. Henning seconded the motion.
