From the City of Elkader--
Here is the info on the pool situation:
The Pool will be open tomorrow (Saturday) but unfortunately we will be closed after that for repairs.
THE ELKADER POOL WILL BE CLOSED FOR REPAIRS STARTING SUNDAY, JUNE 1ST.
WE ANTICIPATING RE-OPENING JUNE 11TH.
While preparing the pool for the season, a water loss was noticed.
A contractor was able to come on Wednesday, May 28th to determine if there was a leak. It was determined that a pipe below the shallow end was cracked.
Thankfully the contractor is available right away and confirmed they can be here on Wednesday, June 4th to repair the crack.
The pool needs to be partially drained so the repair can be made. This requires the depletion of chemicals in the pool. Therefore, the pool will be closed beginning Sunday, June 1st to start this process.
Once the repair is made, it takes time to refill the pool and rebalance the chemicals. Our target date to re-open to the public is Wednesday, June 11th.
FOR THOSE WITH SWIMMING LESSONS: (starting June 9th) the plan is to start lessons on June 11th. Use that Friday as a make-up day (so lessons will be June 11, 12, 13). The following week also use Friday as a make-up day so lessons will be Monday through Friday.
Those registered for Preschool classes, June 16th will be your first day and the make-up day will be June 30th.
If these adjustments to the swim lesson schedule do not work please let us know and we can try to reschedule to another session.
We appreciate the public’s understanding and patience as we work through repairing the pool.
The Elkader City Council will be discussing Pool repairs at a Special Meeting on Monday, June 3rd.
