Fayette County Authorities release information on three arrest incidents and a single-vehicle accident leads to charges

On May 8th, 2026, at approximately 2:37 PM a Fayette County Deputy arrested  Tonya Mary Pennington (age 50) of Oelwein, IA and Travis Michael Heinz (age 33) of Oelwein active arrest warrants. Pennington was wanted for Theft 2nd out of Fayette County  and Heinz was wanted out of Greene County. for Both individuals were transported to the Fayette County Jail where they were held. Heinz was picked up and taken to Greene County for his warrant. Pennington was later released on bond.

 

On May 10th, 2026, at approximately 12:10 a.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reported to a disturbance in the 400 block of Mechanic Street. Upon arrival, a male party identified as Stefan Miller, age 33 of Oelwein was found showing signs of impairment and deputies were advised of an assault. Upon completion of the initial investigation Mr. Miller was arrested and charged with public intoxication, assault, and disorderly conduct. Mr. Miller was held at the Fayette County Jail for appearance with a judge. The investigation remains open with additional charges pending. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Fayette Ambulance.

 

On 5-9-26, at approximately 1:45AM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office took a report of a suspicious person near State St. in Eldorado IA.  Fayette County Sheriff Deputies responded to the area and made contact with the subject.  After an investigation, William Joseph Butteris, 41 of Iowa Falls, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense, a serious misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.  Butteris was taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail, where he was held until initial appearance.  

 

On 5-9-26, at approximately 10:04 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a single vehicle accident with unknown injuries near the address of 26013 Crystal Rd. Clermont, IA.  During an investigation it was found that the driver, identified as Jason George Massman, 40 of Clermont, was operating and traveling southwest on Crystal Rd. when he went into the ditch and damaged 2 signs.  It was further found that Massman was intoxicated.  Massman was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated 3rd Offense, a Class D Felony, Failure to Maintain Control, and Striking Fixtures Upon Roadway, both simple misdemeanors.  Massman was taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail, where he was held until initial appearance.  (photo)
