On June 2, 2025, at approximately 4:01 AM a Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a 2012 Chrysler Town & Country van in the area of Highway 187 and F Avenue.  The driver, later identified as 43-year-old Joshua Levendusky of Oelwein, failed to stop and led law enforcement on a chase at speeds of 80 miles per hour or more for approximately 10 miles until the engine of the vehicle he was driving gave out.  Levendusky was charged with Class D Felony Eluding, Driving While Suspended, Operating a Vehicle Without an Ignition Interlock Device, Driving without SR22 Insurance, Speeding, and Failure to Obey Stop Sign.  Levendusky is being held at the Fayette County Jail on $5000 bond for the fore mentioned charges, and is currently on Parole for prior drug offenses.  The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Oelwein Police Department.
