Maquoketa Valley closed the game on a 10-3 run to slip past MFL MarMac 45-42 in a Class 2-A Regional Semi-Final. Grace Richter led the Wildcats with 15. Madison Thompson scored 12 and Audra Burbridge added 9. The Bulldogs were led by Olivia Driscoll with 15 and Samantha Ruff and Cora Keehner scored 8-each. The Bulldogs led 39-35 with 5:30 to go and did not score a field goal the rest of the game. Driscoll hit three free-throws with 2.4-seconds left to bring the Bulldogs within three. The Bulldogs forced a turnover and had a final shot from inside half court to tie the game but it hit off the right side of the rim. Maquoketa Valley is now 19 and 4. The Wildcats play Emmetsburg on Wednesday Night at Hampton-Dumont. Emmetsburg advanced with a 63-44 win over Garner-Hayfield-Ventura. MFL MarMac closes the season 15 and 8.
