OWI ARREST FOLLOWING A CRASH

On the morning of February 22, 2026, at approximately 6:17 A.M., the Grant County Sheriff's Office responded to a one-vehicle crash on Borah Rd. in Mount Ida Township.

Upon arrival, it was determined the driver of the vehicle Evan Gratz, 19, of Fennimore, was driving south on Borah Rd., in a 2023 Nissan Rogue, when he lost control of the vehicle, struck a guard-rail, and then drove through a fence.

During the investigation, Mr. Gratz showed signs of impairment and was ultimately placed under arrest for Operating while intoxicated - second offense, Operating after Revocation, and Fail to Install an Ignition Interlock Device.

Gratz was not injured, but the vehicle he was driving was a total loss, and had to be removed from the scene by Collision Specialists out of Fennimore.

At the scene, the Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Fennimore Police Department, Lancaster Police Department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
