Four people injured in three-vehicle accident in Clayton County
The Iowa State Patrol reports that four people were injured in a three-vehicle accident in Clayton County. The accident occurred on October 10th at 10:16am. A 2020 Subaru Outback operated by 77-year old David Burggren of Dubuque was stopped on Highway 52 at Highway 18. A 2022 Peterbilt Semi operated by 31-year old Kyle Merkes of Worthington was stopped in the turn lane. A 2019 Dodge Ram operated by 65-year old Dana Dorman of Waverly was eastbound on Highway 18. The Burggren vehicle turned left failing to yield the right of way to the Dorman vehicle and hit that vehicle broadside. Both the Burggren and Dorman vehicles then struck the Merkes Semi and the vehicles came to rest blocking the intersection of Highway 18 and 52. Burggren was taken by MarMac Ambulance to Crossing Rivers Hospital for treatment of injuries. A passsenger, 72-year old Jean Mormann of Asbury, was taken by Dubuque Airflight to Gunderson Medical. Dorman, and a passenger, 54-year old Jolynn Dorman of Waverly, were taken by Monona Ambulance to MercyOne Hospital in Elkader. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Clayton County Sheriff's Department, Tri-State Ambulance, Farmersburg and Monona First Responders.
