Garnavillo Police Arrest Minnesota Man on Possession of a Controlled Substance and Other Charges

On Friday, August 21st, 2026, at approximately 11:05 p.m., a Garnavillo Police Officer was on routine patrol conducting stationary radar on Main Street in Garnavillo. The officer observed a vehicle travelling at what appeared to be a high rate of speed through town. A radar check of the vehicle’s speed found that the vehicle was travelling at 61 miles per hour in a posted 30 mile per hour zone; 31 miles per hour over the posted speed limit. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to yield for several blocks despite the officer being behind the vehicle with emergency lights and audible siren activated. The vehicle did finally stop, and contact was made with the operator. An investigation determined that the operator was unlawfully in possession of approximately 15 grams of a controlled substance after a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. Eric Lee, 43, of Minneapolis, Minnesota was arrested by the Garnavillo Police Department and transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Offense, Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle, and Speed. The police department was assisted during the traffic stop by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office and Communications Center.
