Grant County Authorities release information on three separate accidents

 Two-Vehicle Crash 

On December 12, 2025, at approximately 7:09 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff's Office was notified of a two-vehicle crash on CTH H, near the intersection of Dry Hollow Rd, in Jamestown Township. During the investigation it was determined Brock Smothers, 17, of Kieler, was traveling south on CTH H, in a 2022 Nissan Rogue, when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line, and struck a 2025 Kia Sorento, being driven by Jolene Murray, 54, also of Kieler.  

Both drivers were wearing safety belts, and evaluated by Dickeyville EMS at the scene. Both vehicles received disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene.  

Smothers was cited for operating left of center. 

The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Jamestown First Responders, Dickeyville EMS, Jamestown Fire Department, and Donnies Tire and Tow (Dickeyville).  


One Vehicle Crash 

On December 13, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff's Office was notified of an unoccupied vehicle that had been involved in a crash near the 600 block of Mitchell Hollow Road, in Platteville Township.  

Upon arrival, the deputy found an unoccupied 2007 Audi S8 with heavy damage, in the ditch on the south side of the road. During the investigation, it was determined James King, 20, Platteville, had been driving the vehicle and failed to notify law enforcement of the crash. Ultimately, King was cited for operating without a valid drivers license (3rd within 3 years), failure to maintain control, operating without insurance, and failure to Notify Law Enforcement of a Crash.  

The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by members of the Platteville Fire Department, and Rips Towing (Platteville).


Two-Vehicle Crash 

On December 13, 2025, the Grant County Dispatch Center was notified of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 80/81 at Exit 19 of Highway 151, in Platteville Township. 

Mirhya Lyne, 30, from Platteville, was driving her 2010 Mercury Milan, when she exited Highway 151 and attempted to turn northbound onto Highway 80. Lyne failed to yield the right of way when turning left, which resulted in her striking a 2006 Saturn Vue, which was traveling southbound on Highway 80/81, and being driven by Robert Crist, 79, of Darlington.  

There were no injuries reported from the crash, and Lyne received a citation for failing to yield the right of way when turning left. Both vehicle had to be towed from the scene. 

The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Platteville Fire Department, Rip's Towing, and Al's Towing.
