Guttenberg City Council takes action on two ordinance issues dealing with residential

The Guttenberg City Council held discussion on two ordinance issues concerning residential housing. The Council approved an ordinance that adds zoning to the C-1 District that involves adding residential. They held the first reading of an ordinance in regards to residential on the ground floor in the C-2 District. That would involve having up to 70-percent of an area being a residential unit. The Council will hold a second and third reading of that ordinance.
The Council approved keeping the Marina rates the same. The cost for slip will stay at $980 for 30-feet, $1,030 for 32-feet, and $1,705 for 40-feet. Transient rates will remain the same at $1.50 per foot.
The Council approved furniture for the Police Department for up to 10-thousand dollars. The Department will use funds from Ragbrai to pay for the furniture.
Colin Krapfl and Madison Goedken were approved as Volunteer Firefighters pending Department approval.
