Hawkeye man arrested on two active warrants and a minor accident reported near Fayette

On December 15th, 2025, at approximately 4:54 PM, Matthew Timothy Burnell (age 49) of Hawkeye, IA, was taken into custody by a Fayette County Deputy for two active arrest warrants for Probation Violation and Domestic Abuse Assault 3rd or Sub. Offense. Matthew turned himself into Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Deputies and was then transported by a Fayette County Deputy to the Fayette County Jail where he was held on No Bond until his initial appearance. Fayette County Sherrif’s Office was assisted by the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office.

 

On December 10th, 2025, at approximately 5:07 PM, The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Car vs. Deer accident in the 12000 block of 150th  Street, Fayette, IA. Upon Deputy arrival, it was determined that Joan Boardman struck a deer in a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse resulting in minor damage. No injuries were reported and the estimated cost of damage was approximately $1500.
