James “Benny” Kracke, 64, of Colesburg, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
Benny was born on November 14, 1961, in Manchester, the son of Henry and Lydia (Kaufmann) Kracke. He graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School in 1980 and went on to build a reputation as a dedicated and hardworking individual. For many years, Benny worked for several area farmers and eventually began working at Hubbard Feeds in Dyersville. He also spent time bartending at several establishments throughout the surrounding area, where his outgoing personality and gift for conversation made him a favorite among patrons and friends alike.
Benny was a passionate sports fan who proudly supported the Minnesota Vikings, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed traveling and looked forward to vacations, especially those that took him to warmer destinations.
Known affectionately by family and friends as “Benny”, he was a true jokester and the life of the party. He never met a stranger and had an incredible ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. His infectious smile, quick wit, and warm personality made people feel welcome wherever he went. Benny was a hardworking man, a great listener, and a loyal friend. He was a devoted brother and uncle whose generosity knew no bounds. As those who loved him often said, his heart was bigger than his hand.
Benny is survived by his sister, Alice (Don) Greimann; brothers, Richard (Penni) Kracke, Gary (Kristi) Kracke and Gene (Carmen) Kracke; as well as several beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lydia Kracke; and his brother, David Kracke.
Benny’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His laughter, kindness, friendship, and larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Public Visitation: 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester, Iowa.
