Luana Council

Luana City Council Minutes of March 2, 2023

The Luana City Council held their regular monthly meeting Thursday March 2, 2023, at 7:00 pm. with Council Members Lonnie Baade. Kevin Boddicker, Todd Olson, Jackie Radloff-Schneider, Luke Steege present. Absent: None.

Mayor Jerry Schroeder called meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Minutes of February meeting were reviewed and approved upon a motion by Radloff-Schneider, second by Baade, carried unanimously.

Boddicker motioned to pay all monthly claims totaling $27,765.61,Steege second, carried unanimously. Receipts for the month totaled $13,117.09. Radloff-Schneider motioned to pass Res. 3-2023 T.O.F, Olson second, carried unanimously. Council reviewed reconciled reports.

The Mayor announced that this was the time and place for the public hearing and meeting on the matter of FY2024 Max Levy at 7:05 pm. The Mayor then asked the Administrator whether any written objections had been filed by any City resident or property owner to the proposal. The Administrator advised the Mayor and the Council that no written objections had been filed. The Mayor then called for oral objections to the proposal and none were made. Whereupon the Mayor declared the time for receiving oral and written objections to be closed. Steege motioned to pass Res. 3.1-2023 FY2024 Max Levy, Boddicker second, carried unanimously. Whereupon the Mayor declared the measure duly adopted.

Humble explained Senate File 181 which results in a reduction in taxable valuations in residential, commercial, industrial and railroad property classes. Olson motioned to set public hearing for FY2024 Budget for April 6, 2023, at 7pm, Baade second, carried unanimously.

Steege motioned to approve building permit for a 36X72 pole shed at 303 Burgess Street, Boddicker second building permit, carried unanimously.

Boddicker motioned to accept bid from APEX Commercial Roofing to repair city shop building in the amount of $20,808.10 with a 50% down payment due at this time, Olson second, carried unanimously.

Baade informed council fireman’s appreciation dinner will be held March 11, 2023.

PWS, Kleinow, informed council of a residence water leak resulting in an extra of approximately 22,000 gallons of water, for several days, running from the well. Resident will be contacted.

Next regular council meeting will be held April 6, 2023, at 7:00 pm.

Mayor Schroeder adjourned the meeting at 7:35 pm.
