Maynard man faces charges after UTV accident in Fayette County

On March 9^th, 2026, at approximately 9:50pm, Fayette County Deputies were dispatched to a UTV accident near the intersection of 200^th Street & P Ave, Hawkeye, IA. After further investigation it was determined that Christopher Alan Cosgriff (age 40) of Maynard, IA was operating his 2021 Polaris Ranger UTV when he lost control of the vehicle and went into the ditch. An investigation determined Cosgriff to be intoxicated.  He was taken to an area hospital for evaluation and later transported to the Fayette County Jail where he was held for an initial appearance. Christopher was charged with Operating While under the Influence 1^st Offense (Serious Mis.), Leave Scene of Accident – Injury (Serious Mis.), Open Container – Driver 21 years old and older (Simple Mis.) and  Use Electronic Communication Device (Simple Mis.).
