Oelwein Police Release Information on a Number of Weekend Incidents

On September 6, 2026, at midnight, Oelwein Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of 8th St Ne. As a result of this stop, Alyssa Whaley, 34, of Kansas City MO, Colby Lamb, 37, of Kansas City MO, and Johnathan Ayala, 42, of Riverside CA, were arrested. Whaley was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance – Marijuana – 1st Offense – Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Simple Misdemeanor. Lamb was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance – 1st Offense – Serious Misdemeanor, Possession of Controlled Substance – Marijuana – 1st Offense – Serious Misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Simple Misdemeanor. Ayala was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Simple Misdemeanor and Possession of Controlled Substance – Marijuana – 1st Offense.

At 6:45pm, Oelwein Officers arrested Cheyanna Welbes, 18, of Cedar Rapids. Welbes was arrested on a Fayette County Warrant – Original Charge – 5th Degree Theft. This arrest took place in the 900 block of 3rd Ave NE.

At 6:45pm, Oelwein Officers arrested Michael Miller, 51, of Oelwein on two Fayette County Warrants – Failure to Serve mittimus. This arrest took place in the 900 block of 3rd Ave NE.

On September 5, 2026, at 12:56am, Oelwein Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 10 block of 1st Ave Se. As a result of this traffic stop, Christopher Dale Fox, 46, of Oelwein, was issued a summons for Driving While License Suspended.

At 2:36am, Oelwein Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of East Charles. As a result of this traffic stop, Colin William Melka, 22, of Oelwein, was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance – Marijuana - 1st Offense – Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Simple Misdemeanor.
