One Person Injured in Head-On Collission Involving MFL MarMac School Bus

On September 4, 2026, at approximately 7:18 AM, the Clayton County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a two-vehicle personal injury crash on King Road near the intersection of Ivory Road in rural Garnavillo. The accident involved an MFL Mar-Mac School District school bus and a 2010 Jeep Liberty.
A preliminary investigation of the crash indicates that the driver of the Jeep Liberty drove left of center, causing a head-on collision with the school bus. The driver of the school bus, including the four students aboard at the time of the crash were medically evaluated on scene and released. The driver of the Jeep Liberty was transported to Guttenberg Municipal Hospital and ultimately airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic in Iowa City.
The crash remains under investigation by the Clayton County Sheriff's Office, and further details will be released as they become available. The Clayton County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Prairie Du Chien Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, Guttenberg Ambulance Service, Garnavillo Fire Department, Garnavillo First Responders, McGregor Hook & Ladder Company #1, Mar-Mac Ambulance Service, Mercy-One Ambulance Service, Milo's Towing, and Bud's Towing. Names of individuals involved are not being released at this time until the injury status is confirmed, and family members have been notified.
