Two men faces charges in connection with the theft of scrap copper and radiators

Town of Scott, Wis. - On Saturday, February 21st, 2026, Sheriff Dale McCullick reports that the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office investigated the theft of scrap copper and radiators from a property on Myers Lane. Law enforcement personnel identified a suspect vehicle and suspect(s) that led to the execution of a search warrant for stolen property at 17129 County Road T in the Township of Boscobel, County of Grant, Wisconsin.
On Monday, February 23rd, 2026, law enforcement personnel with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and Crawford County Sheriff’s Office executed the search warrant at the above-mentioned address in Grant County, Wisconsin. Upon arrival, law enforcement personnel detained two adult males for questioning, one of which, initially attempted to flee but was found hiding behind a shed on the premises. The adult males were identified as Joshua McCartney (22) of Blue River, Wisconsin, and David Reed (53) of Avoca, Wisconsin.
McCartney and Reed confessed to stealing the scrap copper and radiators from Myers Lane in Crawford County, Wisconsin. During the search, law enforcement personnel located and seized receipts and currency from the sale of the scrap that McCartney and Reed had stolen and sold.
McCartney and Reed are being charged with theft and trespassing. McCartney was arrested on a warrant out of Richland County, Wisconsin.
