UTV Crash leads to OWI Arrest, Traffic Stop Leads to 4th OWI Offense

UTV Rollover Crash Leads to OWI Arrest 

On 9/5/2026, the Grant County Sheriff's Office received a report of a UTV roll over crash on CTH F near Fennimore-Liberty Rd., in Liberty Township. The reporting party stated the UTV was on its side, and the roadway was littered with beer cans.  

At approximately 9:10PM, Christopher Easler, 50, of Fennimore, was southbound on CTH F, in Liberty Township, on his 2025 Polaris UTV. Easler swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway, and lost control of his UTV, causing it to turn on its side.  

Easler was not injured in the crash, and his UTV sustained minor damage.  

During the course of the investigation, Easler showed signs of impairment. Easler was arrested and cited for Operating a UTV while intoxicated, failure to maintain control, and possessing an open intoxicant in a UTV. 

Traffic Stop Leads to arrest for 4th Offense OWI 

On 09/05/26, at approximately 10:01 p.m., A Grant County Sheriff's Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Hwy 81 near Jentz-Baker Drive, in the Township of Platteville. The deputy observed the vehicle being operated with expired registration. 

The Deputy made contact with the driver, Justin Algrim, 40, of Lancaster. Algrim showed signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested for 4th Offense Operating While Under the Influence. Algrim also received citations for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of THC.
