Vehicle totaled but no injuries reported in single-vehicle accident in Fayette County

On January 19^th, 2026, at approximately 6:30 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call due to single vehicle accident in the 19000 block of Cedar Road, Elgin, IA. Upon Deputy arrival, it was discovered that Joshua Allen Chamberlain (age 40) of Aurora, IA was travelling northbound when he lost control of his 2007 Chevrolet Malibu and crashed into the east ditch. Joshua was not injured and the vehicle was a total loss. Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Elgin EMS and Elgin Fire.
